The kit contains 1 of each of the following burs complete with a 30 bur Incidental Bur stand.
CAR-7 to CAR-22
Polishing zirconia or ceramic after occlusal adjustment was always a big concern for us until we found these burs.
The Frank Dental zirconia polishers produce a consistently excellent finish on zirconia principally (for which they are designed) but we have also had outstanding results when polishing lithium disilicate and feldspathic porcelain so we recommend them for all porcelain polishing.
The polishing compounds are designed for laboratory use also laboratory use also and both high quality and hard wearing.
These burs come in a 3-grade polishing system from coarse (green), to medium (red) to fine (yellow). For best results dentist should follow this recommended polishing sequence.
The polisher are available from us in 3 patterns (point, cup and disc) to allow efficient polishing of all polishing surfaces.
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs which should also be cool to avoid damaging the zirconia.
The manufacturer the polishers are applied with air/water coolant at high volume (min 50ml/min).
Max speed 20,000 RPM
CAR-25- Amalgam and Metal Crown Removal Bur (C.FD34L.012.FG)
These carbide burs have been specially designed to have the optimal cutting-edge geometry for the efficient cutting of metal (amalgam or crowns)
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs as they actually need to be run at a lower speed and (of course) which makes them ideal for speed increasing handpieces.
Max speed 160,000 RMP
CAR-26- Porcelain Bonded to Metal Bur (C.FD8XX.012.FG)
These carbide burs have been especially designed to have the optimal cutting-edge geometry for porcelain. However, they are also work well on metal and so can be used for PFM crown removal without the need to swap burs.
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs as they actually need to be run at a lower speed and (of course) which makes them ideal for speed increasing handpieces.
Max speed 160,000 RMP
CAR-27- Crown Cutter Zirconia (D.Z881.012.C.FG)
Cutting zirconia is notoriously difficult because it has a very high strength, toughness and wear resistance. It is perhaps counter intuitive but what bur manufacturers have come to learn is that very fine grit burs are actually the most efficient burs for removing zirconia. Coarse grit burs tend to just immediately burn and lose efficiency immediately.
Please note that if the zirconia crown you are removing has a layer of veneering porcelain then this is better removed initially with the Porcelain Bonded to Metal Bur (CAR-4). Once through the veneering porcelain then revert to the zirconia cutter for maximum efficiency.
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs as they actually need to be run at a lower speed (of course) which makes them ideal for speed increasing handpieces.
Max speed 150,000 RMP
CAR-28- Rugby Ball Zirconia Polisher (D.Z379.023.F.FG)
The rise of monolithic translucent zirconia restorations has been very welcome in dentistry as they provide a good alternative to cast metal restorations in the posterior dentition. The problem that has arisen with monolithic zirconia is how best to adjust the fit and occlusion without initiating cracks or breaking out crystals from the zirconia dioxide.
These zirconia polishers are specifically designed to be used with plenty of cooling water to adjust and polish zirconia efficiently and safely. When combined with the other zirconia polishers in the range dentists should feel confident that they can safely adjust and polish zirconia crowns chairside.
We supply two patterns of zirconia polishing bur. The rugby ball shape is usually ideal for occlusal adjustments.
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs as they actually need to be run at a lower speed (of course) which makes them ideal for speed increasing handpieces.
Max speed 150,000 RMP
CAR-29- Large Tapered Zirconia Polisher (D.Z850.023.F.FG)
The large tapered bur is normally ideal for adjusting contact points and any internal fit discrepancies
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs as they actually need to be run at a lower speed (of course) which makes them ideal for speed increasing handpieces.
Max speed 150,000 RPM
CAR-30 Composite Removal Bur (C.22ALGK.016.RAL)
Conservatively removing composite from orthodontic brackets, aligner tabs and old composite veneers can be challenging.
These carbide burs make this task a lot easier. They are specifically designed to preferentially remove composite and adhesive and are RA grip so can be run in a slow handpiece to facilitate control.
Take careful note of the maximum speed for these burs
Max speed 30,000 RPM
