This is one of our favourite products for composite fillings.

We use it in combination with the Filtek One Bulk Fill Flowable.

The filtek bulk fill range uses some really clever proprietary technology to reduce the contraction stresses during polymerisation.

This means you can cure more confidently in larger increments (4mm).

Other bulk fills that allow this depth of cure are usually translucent to allow the light to penetrate and this means the bulk fills require capping with traditional composite and can look quite grey.

The new Filtek bulk fills mitigate this issue because the composite becomes more opaque as it cures. It’s an amazing bit of science to be honest!

The other thing we like about the bulk fill paste is that it is compatible (in shade and depth/ volume of cure) as the 3M bulk fill flowable composite.

This means when we injection mould (snowplough) paste composite into the flowable we can be more sure of a homogenous restoration that is behaving the same.

We just stock A2 shade of this composite because we think that’s enough for 99% of patients 99% of the time. If you need it darker then a little surface stain normally does the trick to blend it or you can add a regular capping composite on top (optional).

This composite is especially good in claustrophobic cavities when a layered composite approach has a high risk of producing voids.
