Last tooth in arch clamps (Silver)
Last tooth in arch clamps (Silver)
These are speciality clamps which we reserve for times when we are working on the last tooth in the arch
They don’t get used all the time but when they do you are grateful for them!
The collection comprises:
1) The 8AD clamp. This clamp has an extended distal; bow. Often used when working on mandibular molars this bow can create enough distal retraction in the rubber dam to allow you to place a tofflemire or saddle retainer (or similar).
2) The 2AD clamp. This clamp fits on a premolar tooth and extends distally. to provide rubber dam retraction. We would strongly encourage securing the dam with liquid dam (or similar). Once placed the 2AD clamp allows comfortable access to the last tooth
3) The SG clamp. This clamp is similar to the 2AD clamp but extends distally from a molar tooth. Again we would strongly encourage securing the dam with liquid dam (or similar) after placement
Additional tips
-
Additional holes have been made in the 2AD and SG clamps. These will allow a customised (bent) standard Tor VM ring (or similar) to be affixed to the clamp to improve distal retraction
-
A clamp can sometimes be placed on the opposing tooth (normally maxillary molar) to improve distal retraction and access in last tooth in the arch cases.
Please note that these techniques for last tooth in the arch are difficult and may require further training. If attempting these techniques please exercise extreme caution to protect the airway at all times from foreign body inhalation.
WARNING!!!
When operating with clamp:
1) open the clamp for necessary width outside the mouth before placing it on a tooth;
2) avoid high-speed opening;
3) open the clamp for width not more than 1,5 mm exceeding tooth width
(undue force may cause clamp premature failure because of metal fatigue);
4) fix the clamp with floss to avoid clamp swallowing.
CLEANING AND STERILISATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Submerge instruments in cleaning agent solution with neutral pH for 20 min;
2) Rinse the instruments thoroughly with purified water for 3-5 min;
3) Perform standard moist heat / steam sterilization procedure following the sterilizer instructions.
WARNING!!!
1) Do not use cleaning agents with high percentage of chlorine and cleaners containing oxalic acid;
2) Do not keep instruments in liquid medium for more than 3 hours.
